Woman tried to hire hitman to kill ex-husband's new wife and her 13-year-old daughter in New Jersey

Prosecutors say a woman is in jail because she tried to hire a hit man to kill her ex’s wife and the woman’s young daughter.

The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office said that Marilyn Zhou, 56, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of money laundering in Trenton, New Jersey, after the hitman she thought she was talking to turned out to be an undercover cop.

This month, the police found out that Zhou had been looking for someone to kill someone.

The police say that Zhou told an undercover officer in Trenton on December 18 that she wanted her ex-new husband’s wife killed.

The prosecutor’s office said in a news release that Zhou said the woman’s 13-year-old daughter should also be killed if she was with her when the hit was supposed to happen.

Zhou also gave the officer a pair of rubber gloves, a towel, and two pictures of the woman she wanted dead to help him carry out the plan.

Prosecutors say she also gave him $21,000 in cash and offered to pay him another $20,000 after the murder was done.

Shortly after the meeting, Zhou was arrested by the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Special Investigations Unit. Later that evening, they searched her home in Chadds Ford, Pa., and found $18,000 in cash and the items she had suggested using in the murder.

The prosecutor’s office has since filed a motion to detain Zhou during the lead up to her trial.
