Jones went to Mississippi State University for four years and got a degree in computer engineering in 2011. He moved to South Carolina so he could get a job as an engineer at Intel in Columbia. The couple moved into a cheap trailer in Lexington County, which is a suburb of Columbia. Amber Jones took care of their kids by staying at home.

Jones does everything that the Bible says to do. After he was arrested, the police took his religious items, including Bible verses that talked about punishing children.

Difficult Marriage

In May 2012, Jones and his wife had been apart for two weeks. When he went back to their shared home, he found that his wife was having an affair with their 19-year-old neighbor.

He also said that his wife had not cared for the kids, so in 2011 the state’s Department of Social Services (DSS) started looking into the family home. Even though the house was a mess, the investigators stopped their search. Timothy Jones moved his kids to Mississippi to live with his parents because he and his wife were no longer getting along.

When Amber Jones got pregnant with their youngest child, Abigail, tests were done to see if Timothy Jones was the biological father. The results showed that he was.

In October 2013, they came to an agreement on how to split up. Mrs. Jones could only see her children when her husband was around, and Timothy Jones was given custody.

Tim Jones and the kids went back to Lexington County in a different mobile.

There were other reports of child abuse before he took the route of murdering his five children.

Jones Kills His 5 Children

On Thursday, August 28, 2014, Timothy Jones picked up Gabriel and Abigail, his two youngest children, from a nearby daycare. He also picked up Merah, Elias, and Nahtahn, his three oldest children, from Saxe Gotha Elementary School. That was the last time anyone saw the children alive.

All five children’s deaths were listed as homicides, and manual strangulation was listed as the cause of death in each case. However, because the bodies were in bad shape, it was not possible to find out exactly when they died.

Five black trash bags with the bodies of Jones’ children were found near Camden, Alabama, on a dirt road in the country.

The doctor who did the autopsies said that the fact that the black bags were in the sun sped up the process of decomposition. The bodies had been left outside for about a week before they were found. The bodies had gone through a lot of decay.

Trial and Sentencing

Jones entered a plea of not guilty due to insanity.

Jones says that the killings were not planned. Jones says that a voice from a demonic gremlin told him to kill his children. But the psychologist the court chose in the end said that Jones had killed his children on purpose.

Timothy Jones was found guilty of all five murder charges on June 4, 2019. Jones was given a death sentence on June 13.
