Since March 10, 2007, 19-year-old Kelly Gaskins has been missing from Chocowinity, North Carolina. She vanished after reuniting with her friend Virginia Wood on a road trip to Texas and Mexico during spring break with her boyfriend, Ervin Williams.
Early Life
Kelly Gaskins was born on January 11, 1988, and grew up in North Carolina’s Craven and Beaufort counties.
She met Virginia Wood, a childhood friend from Chocowinity, North Carolina, in high school.
On December 26, 2006, Gaskins and her 23-year-old boyfriend Ervin Braxton Williams left their hometown and travelled to the Texas border town of Brownsville.
Disappearance
On January 15, 2007, Gaskins informed her mother that she and her partner were in Matamoros, Mexico. According to reports, they obtained employment in a hotel, and she grumbled that she did not enjoy living there.
Virginia Wood, a friend of Gaskins, drove from Chocowinity, North Carolina, to Texas in March 2007 to spend spring break with the two.
Wood informed her mother that she was in Texas in March, while Gaskins informed hers that she was in Mexico in January.
On March 10, 2007, Wood informed a friend in Texas that she and Kelly Gaskins would be crossing the border to Cancun, Mexico.
Since then, no one has heard from Gaskins, her lover, or Wood, who never returned home.
Gaskins’ mother filed a missing report with the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office on December 10, 2007. Due to a probation breach, officials refused to recognize her missing person report and deemed Gaskins a fugitive for years.
Investigation of Case
Gaskins is wanted for violating his probation by the North Carolina Department of Corrections. She departed North Carolina while she was on misdemeanor probation for drug possession.
Williams is also wanted for failing to appear in court on charges of first-degree arson, first-degree burglary, possession of cocaine, assault by pointing a gun, and possession of marijuana.
Whereabouts
The police uncovered no evidence, means, or motive for foul play in the disappearance of Kelly Gaskins. They suspect that her lover, Ervin Williams, may have knowledge on Wood and Gaskins’ location.
Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $1,000 for information that helps find Virginia Wood or Kelly Gaskins or leads to the arrest of Ervin Williams. The Wood family is offering an extra $1,000 reward for information that leads to the known location of Virginia Wood.
Kelly Gaskin has been missing for a while now, and no one knows why. Her case is still considered a missing persons case. Her case hasn’t been solved yet.
