Christopher Thompkins went to work on January 25, 2002. Christopher was said to have been a fairly religious 20-year-old who was popular and usually happy. He stayed in Georgia with his mother.
At 8 a.m., he left his house and went to work for a survey company. He left his car near the office and went to the job site in Ellerslie, GA with a coworker. That day, 4 men worked on the crew. They were working in a line, with about 50 feet between each person.
Around noon, they took a break for lunch and then went right back to work on the line. One of Christopher’s coworkers, who wasn’t named, was talking to him around 1:00 p.m. He talked to Chris even when he turned his head to do something else. After a minute with no answer, he turned around and saw no sign of Chris. At first, he thought he might have gone into the woods to use the bathroom, but he called out several times and got no response. He finally told the other guys to come look for him, and they did.
When they came to his work area, they found all his tools lying around. The further inquiry uncovered one of Christopher’s boots hanging off the top of a nearby barbed wire fence. After not seeing Christopher anywhere, they called 911 to report him missing.
Some Facts for the Search
The police refused to conduct a search until twenty-four hours had passed since Christopher became an adult.
As his babysitter, Christopher’s mother also worked for the proprietor of the survey company. She was furious because she wasn’t informed of Christopher’s absence until after 4:00 p.m., when they had contacted 911 at 1:00 p.m.
The next day, the cops discovered a piece of fabric torn off Christopher’s work pants along with 12 cents.
This case was poorly covered by the media, and the family had to fight for publicity.
The coworkers were never mentioned as suspects, despite the fact that two of them had criminal histories and one of them would go to prison shortly thereafter for another violent crime. One also retained an attorney during the week following Christopher’s disappearance.
Chris presumably fled to begin a new life, as stated by the police in a public statement.
Christopher’s mother believes that the coworkers were likely responsible for the foul play.
Five months after Christopher Thompkins disappeared, a local farmer discovered his other shoe in a marshy area of his property. This was approximately 900 yards from where he disappeared.
Theories:
He departed independently. But why did he leave his boot on the fence, and how did he escape so swiftly without being noticed?
Coworkers were engaged in some activity.
A wild animal grabbed him. Again- why no noise, tracks, blood, etc.?
Weird theories that have taken the internet by storm:
- Bigfoot.
- Alien Abduction
- He fell into a portal.
The more we talk about this case, the more media attention & the higher likelihood of a resolution.
