Rachel disappeared, along with her brothers Cameron and Kyle. On April 11, 2000, the children and their mother were last seen in Fulton, Mississippi.
Jeff Anderson and Lesley Allen, the children’s parents, married in Wisconsin in 1985 and lived there until their divorce in 1997. Jeff then relocated to Rising Sun, Indiana, while Lesley relocated to Mississippi with Cameron, Kyle, and Rachel, as well as two of her older children from a previous relationship, Stephanie and Greg. Jeff had legal custody of them. Stephanie and Greg are both mentally challenged. This case summary includes photos of Lesley.
The children were supposed to call Jeff every Saturday under the terms of the divorce agreement, but the calls became less frequent. Jeff had court permission to see the children for two weeks in July and August 2000, but they vanished in April of that year. Lesley’s roommate informed him that she had left with a truck driver, taking her three younger children with her but leaving Stephanie and Greg behind. Lesley and her three youngest children have never been found.
Cameron, Kyle, Rachel, and Lesley may have emigrated from Mississippi. They could be driving a brown 1981 Chevrolet Caprice with Mississippi plates. Since their disappearances, no school has requested the children’s school records, and no doctor or hospital has requested their medical records. In addition, there has been no activity on Lesley’s credit record or evidence that she worked anywhere in the country in 2000.
Although the case was initially thought to be a family abduction, there is concern for the Andersons’ safety due to the extended period without contact or evidence of their whereabouts. The cases of the children remain unresolved. The Indiana State Police are looking into the matter.
