In August 1985, Lovely was relocating from California to Massachusetts with his family when he lost track of them.

Lovely was riding his 1978 Model 1100 Yamaha motorcycle with the California license plate number 8N3477 while his family was traveling in a sizable Ryder truck. The motorcycle was equipped with a luggage rack and saddlebags. Every thirty miles, Lovely’s family made a pit stop to check on him. His family wanted to stop in Evanston, Wyoming, but he wanted to keep going. They released him.

Later, Lovely called his aunt and claimed that a “rough-looking” man with his own motorcycle had fixed his motorcycle at Bingo Truck Stop after it broke down in Fort Bridger, Wyoming. Lovely asserted that she feared the man. He didn’t get in touch with his loved ones again. At the time of his disappearance, he had about $150 in cash with him.

Campers in Rock Springs, Wyoming, located Lovely’s motorcycle nine days later in a remote area off South Baxter Road in a small dirt road draw west of the Sweetwater County Airport. It had half a tank of gas, the keys were inside, and it was in good running order.

No trace of Lovely could be found despite a thorough search of the neighborhood. He was close to his family, according to his aunt, who didn’t think he left on his own accord. His case has not been resolved.

According to some authorities, Lovely vanished from Huntington Beach, California. His case is being looked into by the Wyoming and California police departments.
