19 year old Sydney Kaitlyn West was last seen in San Francisco, California on September 30, 2020. She disappeared after entering the Golden Gate Bridge where she often exercised in nearby Crissy Field.

Background of Sydney West

Sydney Kaitlyn West was born on July 11, 2001, in Walnut Creek, California to parents Kimberly and Jason West. She briefly lived in Castro Valley until her family relocated to Pleasanton, California. Sydney went to Foothill High School in Pleasanton, where she was a varsity volleyball star and co-captain. She was a great musician who wrote, recorded, and performed her own music in addition to sports.

Her family relocated to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, in 2017. Sydney opted to take a year off after graduating from Carrboro High School before beginning college.

Sydney returned to California in August 2020 to attend summer studies at UC Berkeley, despite the fact that she was still recovering from a previous concussion.

Due to the COVID pandemic, Sydney struggled to attend virtual classes when the autumn semester began. Being secluded in her campus dormitory while living far away from her home was also difficult for her.

Sydney eventually decided to postpone her freshman year until the autumn of 2021 so she could fully heal. Sydney was single and staying with family friends in the San Francisco Bay Area at the time of her disappearance.

The Disappearance of Sydney West

Sydney had a lengthy phone conversation with her father on the evening of September 29, 2020, and the two agreed to speak again the next day.

Sydney took a ride share service to the Golden Gate Bridge on September 30, 2020, where she frequently went to jog, practice yoga, and exercise in nearby Crissy Field.

Sydney was photographed entering the Golden Gate Bridge around 6:45 a.m. Sydney West never returned home and has been missing ever since.

Sydney’s father became concerned on October 1, 2020, when he was unable to contact her despite multiple attempts. He reported himself missing in North Carolina and San Francisco.

Investigation of Case

Authorities studied CCTV footage of the area around the Golden Gate Bridge on the day Sydney West went missing. Many of the camera’s views were obscured by fog, and they lost sight of her as she approached the bridge.

Sydney frequently visited the Golden Gate Bridge region, where she enjoyed walking, jogging, and taking photography in neighboring Crissy Field.

Her backpack was found in an area around the Golden Gate Bridge and was turned over to the San Fransisco Police. Her cell phone has not been located.

There has been no activity on her phone, bank accounts, or social media accounts since her disappearance. Her laptop and personal belongings were left at a friend’s house in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Whereabouts

There was no proof, means, or motive for foul play in Sydney West’s disappearance, according to police. Authorities determined that she was at risk owing to anxiety and despair.

Her family is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to Sydney West’s location and return.

The circumstances of Sydney West’s disappearance remain unclear and her case is currently classified as missing. Her case remains unsolved.
