Tuesday, Lori Vallow Daybell’s lone surviving son testified in his mother’s murder trial for the deaths of his younger siblings. He claimed she lied to him and pretended to be his deceased sister in text messages.
Nate Eaton of the East Idaho News reported from inside the courtroom that Colby Ryan gave an emotional testimony in the case against his 49-year-old mother, who is accused of killing 16-year-old Tylee Ryan and 7-year-old JJ Vallow with her most recent husband, Chad Daybell.
Prosecutors claim that the two preached about zombies and claimed that God had appointed them to guide the 144,000 followers through the end of the world and the second coming of Christ. According to rumors, Vallow Daybell thought that people either represented the light or the dark, the latter group being made up of those who had made deals with the devil.
Her alleged beliefs held that some people could only be freed from their “dark” spiritual attachments by being cast into the afterlife or dying.
A jail call from August 3, 2020 between the two was played for the jury of 10 men and 8 women as Ryan, Vallow Daybell’s oldest and only surviving son, sat on the witness stand.
“Are you hearing me? Would you like to speak with me? According to the report, Vallow Daybell can be heard posing the question. The call came just a few months after authorities located the children’s remains on Chad Daybell’s property in Rexburg, Idaho.
“I don’t know a murderous mother.” Colby Ryan to his mother, Lori Vallow Daybell
Would you consider hiding from me? Ryan allegedly answers.
Ryan responds, “Probably because you murdered my siblings,” when his mother claims he didn’t want to speak to her.

“In my darkest hours, I have prayed for you and for my siblings, whom you assured me were safe. I believed I could rely on you. I mistakenly believed that you were a totally different person.
When Ryan is informed by Vallow Daybell that he has known her his entire life, he responds, “I don’t know a murderous mother.”
He tells the woman, “It kills me to watch you take the victim’s route and say this shouldn’t have happened to you when you are telling me that Chad Daybell came into your life and all of a sudden everything changes,” according to the report.
“I can’t keep track of how many times you specifically lied to me about this. to learn that they were dead, that you were aware of it, and that my younger sister—who isn’t even alive—is texting me. The sweetest little boy ever is my little brother.

When her son claims that Jesus would judge her, Vallow Daybell is said to have laughed. Ryan and the rest of the world can judge her, she continues.
She claims that JJ and Tylee “love me, they are fine, they know the truth, and we are the only people that do.”
“No matter how mad I am at you, no matter how bad I want to hit your husband in the face with a shovel, I pray for you, I pray for him.” Colby Ryan to his mother, Lori Vallow Daybell
In the jail call, Ryan allegedly starts shouting as he explains how the kids were “found buried in your new husband’s backyard.”
The truth will eventually come out, continues Vallow Daybell to her son.

According to the report, Ryan says, “My own mom, my siblings, my entire family, my dad – everyone is gone except my mom, and you’re in jail because of it.” “Why are you going down the rabbit hole with Chad? Why would you adhere to a bad example? … You can no longer deceive me. You can no longer hide.
He reportedly continues, “I pray daily. I pray for you and your husband no matter how irate I am with you or how badly I want to smack your husband across the face with a shovel.
Ryan started crying earlier in his testimony on Tuesday as he recognized his siblings in pictures that the prosecution’s Rob Wood had shown. After the police informed him in November 2019 that they were looking for his younger siblings, he testified in court that he was unable to find or contact his phone.

According to the report, Ryan testified, “She just told me she was moving somewhere cold and it was dangerous for her to tell anyone.”
While her son was testifying, Vallow Daybell appeared to wipe her eyes several times.
She is being accused of killing, while her now-husband, Daybell, is being tried separately on related charges.
Prosecutors have connected the couple to the murders of Tylee and JJ as well as the death of Tammy Daybell, Daybell’s ex-wife, who was 49, in October 2019. According to the prosecution, the couple then received life insurance proceeds and social security benefits related to the three deaths.
Theft, conspiracy, and first-degree murder are the charges brought against Vallow-Daybell. She was also charged in connection with Charles Vallow, her ex-husband,’s death in Arizona.
Defense attorneys have reportedly attempted to place the blame for Charles’ passing on Daybell or Alex Cox, Vallow Daybell’s now deceased brother.
After being detained for nine months in a mental health facility following her arrest in May 2021, Vallow Daybell was found to be fit for trial in April 2022.
Currently in its second week, the trial is anticipated to continue for several more.
