Disappearance

Mekayla requested a ride to the bank from her friend Oksana via text message at 6:41 AM on April 12, 2016. Investigation reveals she had far less money in her bank account than she had allegedly claimed to have ($5000). Oksana rejected her invitation. Mekayla arrived at Sacred Heart High School at 8:20 and started her day of classes there. After going to her locker, she left the building through a back entrance six minutes later.

Between 8:50 and 8:55 AM, she was captured on camera speaking on the phone as she walked to a bank. Mekayla quickly ended the call and requested the teller to withdraw 55 dollars from her bank account when a bank teller opened the shutters.

She went into a pawn shop at nine in the morning and tried to pawn a silver ring, but the owner declined because the price was too low.

Mekayla went into a Tim Hortons and Wendy’s joint at 9:15 AM and placed an order for a drink. She sat in a booth and had her bag close by. She never used a backpack, though, so it’s clear that she had plans to leave Yorkton. She was observed nervously glancing at windows and doors. She left the building at 9:23 AM through one of the two exits, only to enter again and leave through the other.

She entered the Wendy’s/Tim Horton’s at 9:49 AM while speaking on the phone with an unidentified person. She occupied a booth near the entrance.

She texted her friend Shelby at 10:12 a.m. and said, “Hey, I need help,” but she later replied, “Nevermind, I figured it out.”

Mekayla requested a hotel room at 10:43 AM, but the woman turned her down. She hung up the phone and left the cafe two minutes later.

Mekayla’s whereabouts between 10:45 and 11:55 AM are unknown.

Around noon, she returned to her school, where she met up with two of her friends and informed them that she would be travelling to Regina by bus. It’s possible that she had two phones on her person while she was in the school.

Mekayla made her final exit from the school and headed to a bus depot at 12:02 PM. She left after learning that the bus she wanted to take would depart at 5:00 PM.

She then went inside the UFC Bus Depot and placed an order for food at the Trail Stop restaurant there. No CCTV footage from the scene shows her. Mekayla left the depot between 1:00 and 1:45 PM.

That evening, she was reported missing after failing to return home. The following morning at 7:00 AM, her phone was off.

Mekayla is not thought to have purchased a ticket at the depot, and it is unknown what she did after getting off.

Investigation:

It’s believed that someone got in touch with her on that day, and Mekayla made plans to meet that person later that month, possibly in Regina.

Mekayla was seen with a man who had a tattoo of a flaming cross, but it is now thought that he was just holding the door for her and is not a suspect in her disappearance.

Mekayla reportedly texted a man going by the name of “Christopher,” and she told her friends that he was going to Saskatchewan. She was still friends with Mekayla’s ex-boyfriend, who claimed that Mekayla had informed him that Christopher intended to travel to the Canadian province to see his mother. There is no proof that Christopher was in Canada when Mekayla vanished despite the fact that police searched his house. Mekayla had previously attempted suicide, but Christopher also revealed to CBC News that she had improved.

Mekayla was said to have numerous body scars, possibly from an incisor.

Mekayla was allegedly texting a boy by the name of “Josh” as well. Authorities discovered “Josh,” a person she knew but hadn’t seen in a while. It’s unlikely that this is the “Josh” she was texting.

Further investigation has revealed that she might have been texting individuals using the private messaging app Kik. Mekayla is thought to have met this person sometime in April after texting them through the app. She might have been abducted and brought into human trafficking, according to another theory.
