A 55-year-old man has been charged by the Victorian Homicide Squad in connection with the 1992 death of mother-of-two Annette Steward in Geelong West.
A 55-year-old man was brought to Victoria from Western Australia last week, according to a statement from the authorities.
“He has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear in Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 20, according to Victoria Police.
On March 18, 1992, Ms. Steward’s body was found in her residence on Hope Street.
The 29-year-old had finished work at Point Henry the day before around 4.30 p.m. and had dinner with four friends later that day at her house.
A post-mortem showed that the young mother had been strangled to death.
In January 2020, the man had previously been detained by the Western Australian Police as part of an unrelated probe.
Police offered a $1 million reward in 2015 for information relating to the murder of Ms. Steward.
