Idaho

An investigator testified Thursday that the suspect’s DNA was found on a knife sheath at the crime site, corroborating evidence from previously revealed court records. Officer Brett Payne of the Moscow, Idaho Police Department wrote an affidavit that was released to the public minutes before the scheduled court hearing for Bryan Kohberger, the 28-year-old man suspected of killing three people on November 13.

On Wednesday, Kohberger flew from Pennsylvania, where he had been arrested at his family’s home in the Pocono Mountains, to Idaho, where he was turned over to local authorities. For the November murders of Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, he is currently being imprisoned in Latah County Jail.

An affidavit states that on December 27, agents retrieved trash from the Kohberger home in Albrightsville, Pennsylvania and submitted it to the Idaho State Lab for analysis.

The sheath’s DNA profile was matched to a profile found in garbage the following day.
