Davante Richardson, 28 year of age, was last seen in Washington, D.C. on July 20, 2020. He vanished while on his way to Wyoming, telling his family he was going to meet a friend.

Background

On June 9, 1992, Davante Richardson was born. He grew up in a single-parent household with his mother in Washington, D.C.

Richardson moved to Missouri with his father when he was 11 years old. He graduated from high school and briefly attended Lincoln University of Missouri before returning to the Washington, D.C. area.

Richardson was a single man living with his mother on Mississippi Avenue Southeast in Washington, D.C. at the time of his disappearance.

The Disappearance of Davante Richardson

Richardson was last seen leaving his grandparents’ home in Washington, D.C. on July 20, 2020, telling his family he was going to see his friend Kanye.

Richardson never showed up, and has never been heard from again.
When his family was unable to contact him, they filed a missing person report with the Metropolitan Police Department on July 22, 2020.

Richardson’s vehicle, a blue 2016 Jeep Compass with D.C. license plates #GD1855, was discovered abandoned on the side of a dirt road east of Greybull in Big Horn County, Wyoming, on July 27, 2020.

The abandoned vehicle was reported to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office on July 29, 2020.

Investigation

Inside the abandoned vehicle, authorities discovered Richardson’s laptop, two cell phones, and his keys. The car was described as “clean and very well kept,” but there was no evidence of a long road trip.

Richardson’s most recent communication was a late-night text message to a friend, in which he stated that he was “going to see his buddy.” Authorities suspected Richardson was attempting to meet American rapper Ye, also known as Kanye West, whom he did not personally know.

The rapper owns a ranch in the county where the car was discovered, which is approximately 15 to 20 miles away. Authorities interviewed his security team, who were helpful and cooperative, but there was no evidence that Richardson ever arrived.

Whereabouts

There was no evidence, means, or motive for foul play in Davante Richardson’s disappearance, according to police. The investigation is still ongoing.
